Sr Research Engineer - Beverages - PepsiCo

As part of a highly-focused team that values initiative and creative spirit the Senior Researcher will work in the area of beverage process technology innovation, with preference given to areas that enhance the processing and functionality of fruit, vegetable and dairy products and ingredients.

  • Plans and executes internal and external research to develop technologies which will fuel our innovation, growth, and productivity platforms.
  • Translates research objectives into project goals and plans.
  • Prime research mover, working at internal laboratories as well as with external partners to meet research objectives.
  • Makes significant technical advances utilizing internal and external resources.
  • Surveys both industry and academia for new technologies for potential application in our food and beverage processes.
  • Develop, plan and execute research including theoretical desktop analyses, bench scale experimentation, proof of concept validation through process development and feasibility testing.
  • Results focused with a bias for publishing and IP pursuit.
  • Active participation and leadership in internal as well as external research forums and industry associations.
  • Delivers technical proof of principle through sound experimentation and thoroughness.
  • Develop and deliver technical documentation and associated materials to the highest standards.
  • Develop clear, concise and timely project communication.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in chemical or process engineering, food engineering, food science or other related engineering disciplines.
  • Demonstrated expertise and a record of achievement in science or engineering for product/process research in the area food processing or similar industry.
  • Demonstrated track record of publication in scientific journals and presentations at scientific conferences.
  • Experience in a consumer products research & development function is preferred.
  • Strong connection and demonstrated proactive involvement with professional association(s) related to the food, or other related industries.
  • Must be willing and ableto travel, on your own, in the US and Internationally approximately 20% of time.
  • Approximately 80% time spent in the laboratory or pilot plant conducting research and related activities.
