President Message - 2015

Dear CAFPNA Members:

It was my great pleasure to see many of you at the IAFP Annual meeting in Portland, Oregon in August this year. As the new President of our organization, I would like to thank you for maintaining your membership and also welcome our new members to the Chinese Association for Food Protection in North America (CAFPNA)!  I would also like to thank our past President Dr. Ruiqing Pamboukian and other Board members for your leadership and great job done during 2014-2015. Our members have significantly increased from 159 to 198 in the last year!

Time flies. Now it is time to think about our next year’s plans of activities. I understand that all of us have very busy work and life schedules, particularly in this season.  I also understand that your commitment and volunteerism are very valuable to our students and professionals working in the food safety and related areas.  With our new leadership team I hope we will continue to work together to move our affiliate forward.

As announced at our annual affiliate meeting in Portland, the following new 2015-2016 board members have been elected:

President: Zuoxing (Zachary) Zheng, Ph.D., Valent BioSciences Corporation

President-Elect: Xiuping Jiang, Ph.D., Clemson University

Secretary: Luxin Wang, Ph.D., Auburn University

Treasurer: Wen Zou, Ph.D., U.S. Food and Drug Administration

Past President: Ruiqing Pamboukian, Ph.D., U.S. Food and Drug Administration

IAFP Delegate: Ruiqing Pamboukian, Ph.D., U.S. Food and Drug Administration

In addition, Ms. Cui Yue and Mr. Ren Yang will continue to serve as the co-Chairs of the Student Committee. Mr. Zengxin (Scott) Li will continue to serve as the Mentoring Committee Chair. Mr. Chen Wang continues to serve as the Website Master. I would like to thank you all for your continued dedication and contributions to CAFPNA.

For the upcoming year, we plan to work closely with the China Association for Food Protection (CAFP) which was recently established in China and the Chinese American Food Society (CAFS) to help build a broader network in the food industry. I am looking forward to working with you all to continue to build and grow our organization.
